March 1, 7:30pm: Reading.  Buris Devanney will present a slide show and lead a discussion of African Chronicles and his work in Africa (including The Gambia) at Scott Manor House, 15 Fort Sackville Road in Bedford.

March 3, 7-9:30pm: Un-censor Yourself! A WFNS Social. Celebrate Freedom to Read Week with the Writers’ Federation of Nova Scotia with a reading featuring WFNS members “un-censoring” themselves by reading something they may otherwise feel ashamed by. WFNS, 1113 Marginal Road, Halifax.

March 4, 8:30pm: Halifax Hare. The March Hare comes to Halifax featuring readings and music by: Paul Dean, Lorri Neilson Glenn, Jessica Grant, Matthew Hornell, Wayne Hunt, Stephanie McKenzie, Donna Morrissey, Andrew O’Brian, Craig Francis Power. The Carlton, 1685 Argyle Street, Halifax.

March 7, 7pm: Saint Mary’s Reading Series. Don McKay reads from his latest work and Jacob Mooney reads from his new collection Folk in Room 101, the Atrium, 923 Robie Street, Saint Mary’s University, Halifax.

March 12, 7pm: Whatever Else Poetry is Freedom: The Irving Layton Centenary Bash. Poets Nanci Lee, Michael Pacey Phanuel Antwi, Brian Bartlett, Liane Heller, Nate Crawford, Matt Huculak, Carole Langille, David Rimmington, Alice Burdick, Travis Mason and Andy Wainwright read and talk about Layton’s work at The Company House, 2202 Gottingen Street, Halifax. This is one of many celebrations taking place in cities across the country.

March 16, 7:30pm: Salon du Parc. Playwright’s Atlantic Resource Centre hosts an evening with the award-winning playwright, Wendy Lill with music by GaRRy Williams. Hot and cold d’oeuvres will be served as well as NS wine and beer. Women’s Council House, 989 Young Street, Halifax.
